Windows are the eyes and ears of a building, giving a building character and individuality. The view from a window lets us be in contact with the outside world. The security of the window lets us sleep at night. The romance of a window has not changed in thousands of years, to provide light and ventilation, to welcoming and warm windows are an essential element within any building and are the oldest and simplest and most direct way of communication.

We continually look through our windows at the landscape, the street, the crowd, the children playing, the sun, rain, snow and the stars above...., but how often do we look at the window itself?

All our windows are made to measure and therefore can be adapted to become more than just a plug for the hole in the wall - they become an entire architectural feature, pleasing to the eye both internally and externally.

Timber Windows

PVCu Design

The PVC-U windows have been designed with a gasket glazed system and concealed drainage system within the rebate. Any water ingress is allowed to drain back to the outside through the concealed drainage. Thus water is never available to sit in the window rebate and induce the breakdown of the double glazed unit.

PVCu Safety

Fire Safety - egress hinges can be fitted when specified to us - these enable the size of the standard sash opening to be increased to allow escape in the event of fire.

Child Safety - a range of restrictors, including a restricted friction stay, is available. These restrict the sash opening to prevent accidental exit through the sash opening.

Safety Glass - a range of safety glazing is available, either toughened glass or the more expensive laminated glass.

PVCu Security

There are 3 levels of security offered within the PVC-U window range:

Level 1 - offers ‘Standard Security’ incorporating standard system reinforcement, internal beading with double sided tape, mushroom cam espagnolette locking and locking handle.

Level 2 - offers ‘High Security’ incorporating standard system reinforcement, internal beading with double sided tape, shootbolt espagnolette, locking handle and security friction stays.

Level 3 - offers ‘Secured by Design’. This window offers level 2 security but in addition incorporates full reinforcement to all frame, sash, mullion, and transom sections and ‘hinge supports’ to the hinge side. This window has been certified by BSI to BS 7950 - “Specification for enhanced security performance of casement and tilt/turn windows for domestic appliances.” Our kitemark number is KM60733. Accordingly, this window also meets the requirements of “Secured by Design” - provided you specify that the glazing includes laminate glass to the outer pane on ground floor locations.

PVCu Rebates

Ultra violet rays of light can attack the seal of the double glazed unit and break it down. This can be noticed when condensation and dis-colouration appears between the double glazed unit. The PVC-U range of windows is designed with 20mm deep rebates so that the edge seal of a double glazed unit sits deep enough within the rebate to avoid the seal of the unit being attacked and broken down by the ultra violet light.

PVCu Glazing

The PVC-U window has been designed to accept 28mm double glazed units to give an optimum in thermal properties and also allows for various glazing configurations.

Timber Design

The beauty of timber is its diversity, it can be cut, moulded, glued, carved and repaired making it an ideal material for durable window construction. The windows we produce are not only beautiful but are also manufactured to a very high quality incoporating "Durability by Desgn".

Timber Weathering the Elements

Our range of windows have been designed with both water and sunlight in mind. These are the two main enemies of timber and as such the design of our windows responds to the threats of these elements.

Timber Security

All our windows incorporate double sided security tape to hold the double glazed unit into the window. This means if the timber beads are removed, the glass will remain in position and the only way to remove the glass is to break it.

Timber Drainage

The windows have been designed with a gasket glazed system and sloped bottom rebate. These bottom sloped rebates allow any water ingress to drain back to the outside through the help of a special vented bottom bead . Thus if the window is not fitted plumb, water will not collect in the bottom rebate, as it will simply drain out. Water is allowed to sit in the window rebate and induce the onset of rot or breakdown of the double glazed unit.

On some of our windows (i.e. The internally beaded window, and those windows with Georgian bars) the drainage is made through special drainage canals within the frame section. This allows the use of the same bead on all four sides of the double glazed unit to retain sightlines.

Timber Rebates

Our range of windows are designed with 18mm deep rebates (With the exception of the traditional Georgian and the vertical sliding window) so that the edge seal of a double glazed unit sits deep enough within the rebate to avoid the seal of the unit being attacked and broken down by ultra violet light.
